Navigating Our NEW Curriculum

  • Level 1 : Intro

    What’s changed?

Previously, we offered (3) Level 1 courses totaling in 12 weeks of classes. We now offer (2) Level 1 courses, totaling in 16 weeks of classes.

Why did we make this change?

We believe the previous 4-week courses were too short for students to truly grasp the essence of Brazilian Zouk. In order for students to have a better learning experience overall and really try Zouk, we decided that offering 8-week courses would be the sweet spot for gaining more clarity and confidence in the dance by allowing more time to learn, receive feedback, improve, and implement Zouk techniques! The new (2) 8 week courses are the perfect integration for new Zoukers to set themselves up for success in the rest of the curriculum and other classes!

How do I know if I am level 1?

    • If you have not completed any progressive Zouk classes with Zouk OC, you will begin in level 1.

    • If you have previously completed “Zouk From Zero”, we recommend to join the Zouk From Zero A and Zouk From Zero B classes so you can get the new material, more feedback, and keep the movements in your body with more practice and details!! We do have new material taught in each of the new Zouk From Zero programs as well as more time for feedback!

For those who have completed Zouk From Zero previously, we are offering a discount of 30% when taking Zouk From Zero A or B (which is also the discount for re-taking classes in 2024). Zouk From Zero A and B can be taken in any order.

  • Level 2: Fundamentals

    What’s changed?

Level 2 classes have completely transformed from previously 11 courses combined (between Beginner, and Intermediate I levels) to 10 courses in the new curriculum. This level is now designed to serve as the Fundamental level where students can gain a solid understanding of all the fundamentals we have in Brazilian Zouk.

Why did we make this change?

With a well-thought-out structure, Level 2 is the missing key to any gaps we previously had in our curriculum where we saw we can improve. The new class flow will help students improve more efficiently by diving deep into movement concept and getting a lot of practice with the monthly fundamental topic structure.

How do I know if I am level 2?

    • If you have completed all Level 1 courses in the 2024 curriculum, then you will progress to Level 2.

    • If you have previously completed 3 (or less) classes in the 2023 Level 2: Beginner curriculum such as “Fundamental Footwork I, Fundamental Footwork II, Flowing Fundamentals I, Flowing Fundamentals II, or Connecting Beginner Concepts”, it is advised to continue to take Level 2 classes in the 2024 Curriculum.

    • If you have previously completed “Fundamental Footwork I AND II, Flowing Fundamentals I AND II, AND Connecting Beginner Concepts” it is recommended to inquire about the Head Movement Bootcamps and Level 3 classes for proper placement and approval.

    • If you have previously completed 2 (or more) classes in the 2023 Level 3: Intermediate I curriculum such as “Intermediate Fundamentals I, Intermediate Fundamentals II, Intro to Head Movement, Head Movement Basics, or Traveling Head Movement I” it is recommended to inquire about the Level 3 classes for proper placement and approval.

*Students will need to test out of level 2 to get into level 3 classes.

  • Level 3: Topics & Variations

    What’s changed?

Our students are growing, so our curriculum is too! With the newly establish baseline of learning fundamentals in Level 2, all students in level 3 will have a better understanding of Brazilian Zouk and the ability to progress into more challenging topics together! This is the level to challenge yourself to think more deeply about the dance and request a special topic of your interest. You can’t stop learning here as class content could be altered or updated!

Why did we make this change?

We made this change to offer a more dynamic learning experience overall and ability to navigate the curriculum with more opportunities and clarity. Level 3 classes are a great place to continue and (very important) maintain progression as you gain a thorough understanding of Brazilian Zouk and refine the layers of your technique.

How do I know if I am level 3?

    • If you have completed all Level 2 courses in the 2024 curriculum, then you will be eligible to test out of Level 2.

    • If you have previously completed Level 4: Intermediate II classes in the 2023 curriculum you will automatically be in Level 3 classes.

*Students will need to test out of level 2 to get into level 3 classes.
